How to Connect the Light Fixture to NeuroSync Pro Audio+Light

The NeuroSync Pro Audio+Light Edition is designed to combine audio entrainment with controlled RGB-W light stimulation. To make that work reliably, the light fixture must be connected in the right order: software, network controller, DMX cable and fixture settings all need to match. This first-use guide explains the practical setup step by step.

The exact names on your controller or fixture may differ slightly, but the principle is always the same: NeuroSync Pro sends Art-Net data over the network, an Art-Net-to-DMX controller converts that data to DMX, and the connected light fixture responds to the DMX channels it has been assigned.

Step 1: connect the Art-Net controller

Connect the Art-Net-to-DMX controller to the same network as the computer running NeuroSync Pro. This can be done through a router, switch or a direct Ethernet connection, depending on your setup. In most situations, using the same router or network switch is the easiest and most stable option.

Power on the controller and wait until it has fully started. If the controller has a web interface, verify that it is reachable on the network before troubleshooting the light fixture. A red or error indicator usually means that the software, network or Art-Net configuration is not yet communicating correctly.

Step 2: connect the DMX output to the fixture

Use a real DMX cable from the controller’s DMX output to the DMX input of the light fixture. Avoid using random audio microphone cables for permanent or professional setups, even when the connector looks similar. DMX is a digital control signal and reliable cabling matters.

Step 3: set the fixture to DMX mode

The light fixture must be in DMX mode, not in automatic, sound-active, demo, remote-control or standalone mode. Standalone modes ignore incoming DMX data or only use it partially, which can make it look as if NeuroSync Pro is not working.

For the recommended RGB-W workflow, set the fixture to the channel mode used by NeuroSync Pro. If the fixture manual offers a 13-channel mode for the supported light bar, choose that mode. Then set the DMX start address to 001, unless your NeuroSync Pro configuration explicitly uses a different start address.

Step 4: select the controller in NeuroSync Pro

Open NeuroSync Pro Audio+Light and select the correct light controller profile. Keep the Chauvet profile available if you use Chauvet hardware, but choose the Art-Net / Eurolite-compatible controller profile when using the ArtNet-DMX2 style controller and supported RGB-W light bar.

Make sure the selected output, universe and address correspond with the controller and fixture. When these values do not match, the software can appear to run normally while the fixture does not react.

Step 5: test with simple light first

Before starting a full session, test the fixture with a simple constant colour and moderate brightness. This avoids confusion between a connection problem and a session-design setting such as 0% intensity, blackout, very slow transitions or a phase that begins with the lights intentionally off.

Safety and comfort

Always begin with conservative brightness. More light is not automatically better. RGB-W fixtures can be intense, especially at close distance or in a dark room. Increase brightness gradually and keep the participant comfortable.

Do not use rhythmic or flashing light stimulation with people who have photosensitive epilepsy, a seizure disorder or unexplained loss of consciousness unless a qualified medical professional has explicitly cleared this use. Stop immediately if someone experiences eye strain, nausea, dizziness, headache, panic, agitation or disorientation.

A good first test session

A reliable first test is simple: connect the controller, set the fixture to DMX mode and start address 001, select the correct controller profile in NeuroSync Pro, choose a constant colour and slowly raise brightness. When this works, test white light, then RGB pulsing, then Infinity Ganzfeld™ or Aurora Immersion™ mode.
